To remember all the riches we have or sufferings we have are temporary. And that I need to be patient . Verse :15 makes me think of so so many people that have been prayed for and asked of God to heal ,how wonderful when He raises them up! How many wonderful loving serving individuals will I be available to see again and once again hug them and hear their voice .
Sarah, yes – it is definitely encouraging to know about God’s Plan and the resurrections to come. My bestest friend died about 5 years ago after fighting ovarian cancer for a few years. I miss her desperately and long to hold her hand as we rise in the air to meet our Redeemer & King. I also look forward to the second resurrection when my parents will finally be able to understand “why” I left the Catholic Church which hurt them soooo much and changed our family life but not forever, we will have eternity together!
Wow, somehow I missed yesterday – James 4 –
Thanks for everyone’s comments!
Another jam packed chapter!!!
I guess in a nutshell this verse speaks to me and helps me put all of the other verses in perspective…
James 4:7
Humility Cures Worldliness
7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
James 5 –
Reading about the rich in the beginning of the chapter, I couldn’t help but think about how pampered and spoiled we in the western nations are, especially in the U.S. When the removal of God’s blessings hit their peak, we are going to have a tougher time adjusting than our brethren in the developing poor countries who live thru tough and dangerous times now daily.
Verses 8-9 remind me to be mindful of the warning of love growing cold as this world gets darker…
James 5:8-9 8 You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.
9 Do not grumble against one another, brethren, lest you be condemned. Behold, the Judge is standing at the door!
“We consider those blessed who remained steadfast” (verse 11).
Not those who have the most, or those who live easy lives. Those who remain steadfast. They’re the blessed ones. It’s not about how many good things our lives are filled with, but whether we remain steadfast till the end.
