Verse :16 means so much. There have been times in my life when I wondered how I would stretch what groceries I had. And yet there was great peace in knowing God was there. I’ve been in homes where there was a great house , plenty of goods and yet there was sadness and uncertainty . And in :33 humility before honor makes me think of the time when Christ returns and we have our reward. Happy Sabbath !
Proverbs 15:5 5 A fool despises his father’s instruction,
But he who receives correction is prudent.
Sooo many scriptures in this chapter call out to me, but I find v5 a summary spiritually – I strive to heed God the Father’s instruction and change when He corrects me – always praying for gentle merciful correction by revealing to my mind where I am falling short and need to change.
Proverbs 15:4 is the final Tree of Life passage in the book of Proverbs, and it refers to the tongue. Elsewhere in the book of James, we are told that no man can tame the tongue (James 3:8). Once words are said, they cannot be taken back. People can be led astray or confused by our words. People also speak hate and evil against others. Well, those who do consider their tongue and strive to be wholesome, and succeed, are described as a Tree of Life.

Verses 16-17 are phrased so beautifully—I love that reminder that physical goods aren’t what’s most important.

Verse 8 – Doing the right thing with the wrong motivation is meaningless to God.
