Verse :22 and verse :27 really stand to me today ,a meet heart does good like medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones. I remember a wonderful lady I met in the church when I first Started attending, She was older, probably early 80s but she was one of the happiest people I had ever met. In a congregation of close to 300 she knew every child’s name. I had the opportunity to go see her when she was placed in a nursing facility, and even though her circumstances were very different, she Was busy and happy making hats and mittens for little children at Local elementary School because she heard there were those that needed them. She seemed to me as a Wonderful example of faith and good works even in her sad situation. And verse 27 he who has knowledge spares his words, and a man of understanding is of a calm spirit. This makes me think of a local elder Who quietly and efficiently serves in the background without many knowing what he actually has done To help so many of the Brethren. I’m so thankful that God gave me these wonderful words in proverbs and these beautiful examples of His people and His patience as I strive to become more like his son Jesus Christ
This chapter had a lot that stood out to me. Proverbs 17:10, Proverbs 17:27, Proverbs 17:6.
Proverbs 17:12 is interesting because it makes it sound like there is a specific time when meeting a fool would be more dangerous (in his folly) then just normally.
Sarah & Jacob, thank you for your insightful comments. I found them thought provoking regarding my own life.
The following scriptures stand out to me because when I am in situations of negativity and gossip – especially with brethren because we know better – I am very uncomfortable! I tend to be on the side of the underdog, so to speak. I am striving to limit my time in the presence of such conversations and pray for our God to help us all see where they (as well as myself) need to change.
We attend in a rather large congregation. I am also learning that by expanding my friendships and getting to know more of my brothers and sisters by fellowshipping with them I am becoming more inspired and comfortable, less negative and distressed.
As you can see from my various comments over this Book, this area is where my focus is this year in my Passover self-examination.
With God’s help I am conquering keeping silent and fleeing the situation, but am still troubled by the put downs of others spoken to me by brethren about someone else. We are all family and one Body in Christ. May agape of each other flourish and not grow cold.
Proverbs 17:1 1 Better is a dry morsel with quietness,
Than a house full of feasting with strife.
Proverbs 17:9 9 He who covers a transgression seeks love,
But he who repeats a matter separates friends.

It is neat when positive characteristics have a face of someone you know.

Thank you for your openness and the scriptures to consider.
These Proverbs are also worth focusing on as we strive to grow to develop the mind of Christ:

Proverbs 17:
14 The beginning of strife is like releasing water;
Therefore stop contention before a quarrel starts.
15 He who justifies the wicked, and he who condemns the just,
Both of them alike are an abomination to the LORD.
20 He who has a deceitful heart finds no good,
And he who has a perverse tongue falls into evil.
Proverbs 17:22 22 A merry heart does good, like medicine,
But a broken spirit dries the bones.
27 He who has knowledge spares his words,
And a man of understanding is of a calm spirit.
28 Even a fool is counted wise when he holds his peace;
When he shuts his lips, he is considered perceptive.
