    The first two verses caught me this morning! “A good name is to chosen rather than great riches, loving favor rather than silver and gold:2 The rich and the poor have this in common. The Lord is the maker of them all” Are we not called children of God? Do we not carry the name, Christian, what better name could there be? Happy Sabbath.

    As a parent I’ve often thought of verse 15. When a kid does something and I think “But…why? Why would you do that?” I mentally remind myself that “Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child…” and it’s my job to correct that foolishness and teach and show what’s appropriate and right.

    And to extend that thought— if I’m a child of God, do I have foolishness bound up in me? What foolishness is God having to correct? Am I listening when He does?

    Sarah and Mary,

    Thank you for your comments! We are Christian Children of God and I am so grateful for the mercy our Father extends to us in the way He brings correction.

    Proverbs 22:1-2 1 A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches,
    Loving favor rather than silver and gold.
    2 The rich and the poor have this in common,
    The LORD is the maker of them all.

    Proverbs 22:15 15 Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child;
    The rod of correction will drive it far from him.
