Proverbs 2:18 illustrated that the “forbidden woman’s” house was sinking down to death. The woman of folly’s guest that come into her house do not know they are in the depths of the grave (sheol)(Proverbs 9:18). The way apart from wisdom is connected to death whereas a life of wisdom brings multiplied days and years being added to our life (Proverbs 9:11).
“Proverbs 9:10-11 10 “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom,
And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
11 For by me your days will be multiplied,
And years of life will be added to you.”
Having grown up Catholic prior to my calling and conversation, the type of fear of God that was breed in me was all wrong. I am grateful that our loving God is continually revealing to me His true character and proper fear of Him as I strive to grow to have the same mind of Jesus the Christ.
The similarities between wisdom and foolishness are scary. Both cry out from the high places for the simple to turn in, both are offering food and drink. Evaluating the message itself is so critical.
Verses 7-9 are a nice reminder that being wise isn’t about KNOWING everything; it’s about being willing to LEARN. The wise learn, the foolish scoff.
