Belonging to the Way

Before they were known as Christians, the early followers of Jesus Christ were identified as “belonging to the Way” (Acts 9:2, ESV).

I love that.

It was a path and a way of life. This strange new sect of Judaism was marked by the way the disciples lived.

What about you?

Is Christianity the way for you? Is it the path you follow? The thing that defines you?

Or just a thing you happen to be?

I thought deeply about that during Passover presentation, the samething kept coming to mind being a Christian should permeate your whole being, it should define you.

As Sandy said, we are all faced with this question from time to time during each year – especially in our preparation time leading to Passover. A person may hold a position or title, but how they conduct themselves in that office will reveal much: commitment, reputation, vision, and more. I have heard even worldly people say, “and they call themselves Christian!?” This phrase is sometimes said in disbelief because the person’s conduct does not match the office of a Christian as revealed in the Bible. We must be sure to glorify God in ALL our conduct, and examine ourselves daily to ensure that we belong to The Way; that we belong to Jesus and perfectly aligned.

Jeremy. I know my comment will be a departure, but I refuse to be identified as Christian. It seems to me that ‘christianity’ is a broad church and a brand for which anything goes. Belonging to The Way is clear and concise. THE MESSIAH Said, HE IS THE WAY. My identity, is In CHRIST and therefore, I am of THE WAY. I refuse to be identified as a Christian, even as well meaning as ‘Christians’ may be.

I love this concept! Everyone is on a path, a road, a way. Narrow is the gate, and difficult is the WAY which leads to life, and few there be that find it. Broad is the way, that leads to destruction and there are many who go in by it. We are on the high road that leads to eternal life in Gods Kingdom, or we are on the low road that leads to the second death .We are pilgrims and sojourners in this world.
Hebrews 12:13 says to make straight paths for your feet. The physical things are a shadow of spiritual things. We are to know the WAY, go the WAY, and show the WAY.
