When I read about the miracles of healing and 5000 men being fed with five loaves and two fish and knowing the apostles saw Jesus walk on the water, I am astonished by :52 . But when I reflect on my life and my experiences I can understand how their hearts could be hardened. There is so much around us so many things to take our mind off from where it should be.

I thought that phrasing was interesting. I want to do more of a study into what exactly a hard heart means. It’s also used of Pharaoh, but sometimes God is doing the hardening and sometimes Pharaoh is. Seems like there’s some layers to the concept, and it survived across two different languages!

I appreciate that it brings out how difficult their experience was until Christ was in the boat. It makes me reflect on my own life. Things are much more difficult when I’m not including God in my thoughts and plans. And once I bring it to Him, the storm seems manageable.

Mary & Sarah, I totally agree!!! Recently I was on the edge of a cliff filled with much distracting anxiety. It wasn’t until I meditated and reflected on the situation – getting my mind back on God and His promises – that I was able to step back, bring it to the Father in prayer that I was granted the peace I needed. I hope that I will finally have learned the lesson to stop, bring my thoughts and cares to God immediately for Him to calm the emotional storm in my life – especially to have the faith to rely on Him when persecution comes.
