I’ve read chapter one. It’s very scary knowing that they knew ( we know) what was/is coming. Yet they did not change. the last verse makes me want to cry for the children as well as the parents

We should be careful to note that the Apostle Peter states that just at in his time documented in his letter at 1 Peter 4:17, Judgement begins at the House of GOD… our responsibility is to take heed lest we fall. 1 Corinthians 10:12.

It’s amazing how much of a challenge the high places were to remove throughout Israel’s history—even some of the righteous kings stopped short of removing those. But here God describes Jerusalem itself as a high place promoting sinful worship.

On a literary note, verses 10-15 appear to be wordplay in the original Hebrew. The city names and the prescribed actions seem linked—e.g. “Mareshah” in verse 15 means “Inheritance,” so the literal translation is, “I will yet bring an heir to you, O inhabitant of Inheritance.”

Yes indeed, Jerusalem itself is described by GOD as “an high place” I live in England and I have come to recognise the sites of the original ‘high places’ which have long since had ancient church buildings erected on them. It’s fascinating to understand how even till this day, those ancient spaces turned relics continue to exact an ongoing levy by way of a percentage of all local property transactions that take place in each jurisdictional parish.

I think verse 3 shows the seriousness of the situation. It almost feels like God is making sure for Himself this happens. Or is this prophetic? Both?

Interesting, I reread the verses after seeing your comment. It does sound a little like Revelation 16 – the mountains melting & the mountains being leveled.

I do not have a comment for Micah 1, except that this chapter weighs heavy on my mind in relation to the present evil days we live in. Interesting times ahead including the selection of a new Pope; so much chaos worldwide economically, politically, etc. Wonder when our God will tip the dominos.

Throughout the writings of the prophets, we are warned of idolatry and Sabbath-breaking, and the punishments that would result. Yet, we are also shown how stubborn, stiff-necked, and rebellious mankind’s tendency has been. God always preserves goodness and righteousness because of His mercy, and He ensures that a remnant endures, even an heir. Much has been written for our sakes in these latter days. Much can be learnt so that we, too, can overcome with God’s Holy Spirit, guidance, and grace.
