As I strive to obey God and grow in the fruit of the Spirit, I ponder on the following verses – seeking to trust God’s guidance, not myself as I lovingly go to my spiritual family when there is a need to help them with truth and not flattery.
Proverbs 28:
23 He who rebukes a man will find more favor afterward
Than he who flatters with the tongue.
Proverbs 28:
25 He who is of a proud heart stirs up strife,
But he who trusts in the LORD will be prospered.
Proverbs 28:
26 He who trusts in his own heart is a fool,
But whoever walks wisely will be delivered.
Proverbs 28:11 stood out to me because it showed that the “rich” person has a difficult time judging themselves properly. I take the rich in the verse to mean those who have see stuff they trust in more than God. I fall into that sometimes. I don’t want to think I am wise because of how I use my money or how I store it up.
Verse 1 is so powerful—that imagery of being so jumpy you’re ready to flee when nothing is there versus having the boldness of a lion, refusing to budge. I want to have my feet firmly planted in God’s way of life.
