As I read this proverb :11 and :12 reminded me of how sad times can be for I see many who fall into this way of thinking. If I am not careful I can do the same ,thinking I’m pure yet I’m not.
The idea that it’s harder to stay close to God if you’re too poor OR too rich (verses 7-9) is one I think about a lot. It’s easy to pray for abundance; it’s harder to pray for just enough. It’s scary. I want to feel secure with dependable financial reserves. But there’s wisdom in saying, “Please don’t give me too much,” which seems wildly counterintuitive.
Also, the ESV does a great job of preserving the wordplay in verse 33–just like pressing milk produces curds and pressing the nose produces blood, pressing anger produces strife. Press too hard on any of the three and you create something else in return.
It is soooo important that we keep our focus on the Word of God. As we learn of Him we are able to trust and rely on Him more and more for help and deliverance at all times, especially when the evil one’s darts are flying at us.
NKJV
Proverbs 30:5
Every word of God is pure;
He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.

Proverbs 30:5
Every word of God is tested and refined [like silver];
He is a shield to those who trust and take refuge in Him.

Oh that’s interesting! I didn’t know “pure” was in a metallurgy sense. Adds another layer to it.
