There is so much in these verses! I have many opportunities to encourage young women with children. But do I always take that opportunity? Do I show a pattern of good works and integrity? With the spring holy day season closer , these are things I want to focus on. Again there is so much here in Gods word
Topic: Trained by Saving Grace
11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, 12 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, 13 looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 14 who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.
Ummm, I feel that I am jealous for “some” good works, but zealous for “all”? That is something I need to reflect on more as the Holy Days approach.
Topic: “Submission”
Titus 2:3-5 3 the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things— 4 that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed.
Ummm, in this one the part about being obedient to my own husband – My loving husband and I have been married just about 57 years and were high school sweethearts, so we have been together 62 years. I must admit, I still have a difficulty understanding the difference about “submission” yet being a Proverbs 31 wife. I tend to be proactive and don’t always mention things to my husband before jumping in and getting something done. I truly need to get better about asking him first, not telling him after.
Paul says that the older men should be “sound in faith, in love, in patience” (verse 2). It strikes me that those attributes cover what believe, how you express that belief, and how you deal with a delay in seeing that belief fulfilled.
I can’t just believe the right things—I also have to act on those things and be willing to wait for reality to catch up with God’s promises!
